RRN responses to flood-affected people of Province 2

Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) has distributed relief materials to more than 16 hundred flood-affected households of Rautahat, Dhanusha, Siraha, Morang and Sarlahi district of province number 2.

A total of 16 hundred tarpaulins and 6,400 meters mattress were distributed to the flood-affected people. Among which 100 pieces of tarpaulin, household kit, shelter kit, hygiene kit, baby pack small/big, water kit, blanket and 400 meters of poly mattress were distributed to the 100 affected families of Janaknandani Rural Municipality in Dhanusha district with the assistance from Department of International Department (DFID)’s Nepal Emergency Response Fund (NERF).

Similarly, 500 pieces of tarpaulin and 1000 pieces of poly mattress (2000 meter) were distributed to the 500 flood-affected households of Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality in Rautahat district. Likewise, RRN distributed 200 pieces of tarpaulin and 800 meters (400 pieces) of poly mattress in flood-affected areas of Morang district and 500 pieces of tarpaulin and 1000 pieces of the poly mattress were handed over to the District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), Siraha.

Meanwhile, 300 pieces of tarpaulin and 1200 meter (600 pieces) of the poly mattress were distributed to the flood-affected households of Bishnu and Kaudena Rural Municipality in Sarlahi district.

According to the news published in various newspaper, it is reported that 94 people have lost their lives in the flood whereas 29 people have gone still missing. The death toll could further increase as the monsoon rainfall is still continuous in some parts of the country.
