Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN), LDC watch and South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE) jointly observed 109th International Women’s Day with a theme: “think smart, build smart, innovate for change” on March 7th 2019 at its central office located at Gairidhara, Kathmandu.
On the occasion, Regional Coordinator of SAAPE, Dr. Netra Timalsina said in Nepal, still family can be a barrier to achieve gender quality adding that although the country has strong laws and liberal society.
Meanwhile, Global Coordinator of LDC watch and human rights activist Mr. Gauri Pradhan highlighted female protagonist Yogmaya Neupane’s contribution in Women movement of Nepal. Pradhan further said one has to change on his/her behaviour and attitude to achieve gender equality. Monitoring and Evaluation Manager of RRN, Ms. Laxmi Karki, opened the interaction program with the history of the World’s women movement and Beijing declaration.
RRN also participated in a morning rally organized by the Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare. The rally commenced from Bhirkutimandap went through Bagbazar, Putalisadak, Padmakanya Campus before converging at Bhirkutimandap.
