RRN and JDC Complete Hygiene Kit Distribution for Flood-Affected Families in Nuwakot

RRN held a coordination meeting yesterday (5 September) at its office with the American Jewish  Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) team, to plan the details of today’s distribution in Nuwakot.  

Following this planning, coordination with RRN’s field team, and field-level consultation with all  relevant stakeholders to identify priority needs, RRN and JDC carried out today’s distribution  accordingly. A joint team travelled to Nuwakot to deliver hygiene kits and non-food relief items  (NFRIs) to families affected by the Rasuwa–Bhotekoshi flash floods, who are currently sheltering  in holding centres. The team departed Kathmandu at 7:30 AM and completed the distribution at  Bidur Municipality, Ward 2, Battar Kabab Hall.  

Today’s emergency response and humanitarian support effort in Nuwakot was led by Ms. Tikaswari  Rai and Ms. Shaurabha Subedi, working alongside the JDC team on the ground. Displaced families  received hygiene kits containing essential items — including bathing and washing soap, toothpaste  and toothbrushes, towels, a bucket and mug, and sanitary pads — alongside other relief supplies.  

JDC is the leading global Jewish humanitarian organization, active in over 70 countries worldwide.  RRN and JDC share a long-standing partnership, having previously collaborated on recovery efforts  following the 2015 earthquake in Ramechhap. Today’s distribution builds on that history, bringing  the two organizations together once again in response to Nepal’s latest disaster.  

As RRN’s response to the Rasuwa–Bhotekoshi floods continues to expand across Nuwakot,  Rasuwa, and Dhading, partnerships like this one remain central to ensuring displaced families  receive timely, essential support.
