RRN’s Rasuwa Response Advances on Two Fronts: 70 Households Reached in Gosaikunda,  Relief Convoy Begins Deliveries in Uttargaya

RRN’s response in Rasuwa progressed on two fronts today, as the field team stationed in the district  since 9 September completed a fresh distribution while a separate relief convoy — travelling  overnight through hazardous terrain — reached Rasuwa and carried out its first delivery of the  journey.  

Gosaikunda: 70 households reached in Bhimale and Sole  

In Dhunche, RRN’s on-the-ground team distributed relief food items to flood-affected families in  Bhimale and Sole, Gosaikunda Rural Municipality–6, reaching a total of 70 households. The relief  package followed the government-standard composition for flood response: rice, lentils, sugar, salt,  cooking oil, beaten rice (chiura), and Sarvottam Pitho, a fortified flour supplement commonly  distributed to support nutrition in emergency settings.  

Ward No. 6 is among the areas most severely affected by the catastrophic floods, with 53 people  reported missing. The community is largely dependent on agriculture and livestock for its  livelihood, and the disaster has taken a heavy toll on both, with agricultural land swept away and  many households losing livestock central to their income and food security. For families here,  today’s distribution addresses not only immediate food needs but a livelihood base that has been  fundamentally disrupted.  

The distribution was carried out in close coordination with Mr. Dawa Sirdar Waiba, Chairperson of  Ward No. 6, Gosaikunda Rural Municipality, along with other local representatives in Dhunche.

Uttargaya: relief convoy completes its first drop after an overnight journey  

Separately, RRN’s relief convoy — carrying supplies with the support of Welthungerhilfe (WHH)  — reached Rasuwa today after travelling overnight through hazardous, muddy mountain paths. The  convoy completed its first delivery of the trip at Danda Gaun, Uttargaya Ward 1, offloading RRN/ WHH relief materials for families in a ward that has remained difficult to reach since the floods  struck.  

Further drops and distributions are planned for tomorrow as the convoy continues its journey to  additional wards in Uttargaya.

Today’s developments reflect RRN’s dual approach to reaching Rasuwa’s affected communities:  sustained, coordinated distribution by teams already established in the district, alongside the  ongoing, physically demanding work of moving relief supplies over terrain that continues to limit  access across much of Rasuwa. Both efforts form part of RRN’s broader response to the Rasuwa– 

Bhotekoshi floods, aimed at reaching the communities that remain hardest to serve.
