RRN Hands Over Medical Equipment and Medicines to Rasuwa Hospital
Dhunche, Rasuwa | 3 October 2026 (17 Asoj 2083)
Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) has handed over essential medical equipment and medicines to Rasuwa Hospital in Dhunche. The support was provided by German Doctors e.V. as part of the Bhotekoshi Flood Relief Package.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Amit Prajapati received the supplies on behalf of the hospital, together with members of the hospital staff. They were handed over by Dr. Suresh Tamang, RRN Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships. RRN Board Member Gauri Thakuri and RRN staff were also present at the handover.
The equipment includes a dual phototherapy unit, used to treat jaundice in newborns, and a skin surgical stapler. Electric room heaters and water boilers will help the hospital keep patients warm as winter sets in at Dhunche’s altitude. Sterilisers and power banks are also part of the package, along with other items. Lifesaving and essential medicines were provided alongside the equipment to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to care for patients.
A hospital under strain
Rasuwa was the district hardest hit by the Bhotekoshi flood of 26 August (10 Bhadra). When RRN’s first field mission reached Dhunche between 4 and 8 September, it found health services severely stretched. Many local health posts were not functioning. The hospital in Dhunche was handling the district’s trauma care, surgery and outpatient load with very limited staff, equipment and medicine. The mission identified healthcare capacity as one of the most pressing needs in the district, and this handover responds directly to that finding.
Part of a wider relief package
The support to Rasuwa Hospital is one part of a relief package worth over EUR 15,000, funded by German Doctors e.V. Under the same package, two health posts are receiving essential medicines and equipment. Nutrition and dignity packets are also going to 350 flood-affected households in Gosaikunda and Amachhodingmo rural municipalities, and distributions will continue in the coming days.
RRN’s response in Rasuwa
Since early September, RRN has delivered food, hygiene kits, winterisation materials and kitchen sets to flood-affected families across Uttargaya, Kalika and Gosaikunda rural municipalities. The health support adds a new strand to that work. RRN continues to coordinate with the district and municipal authorities in Rasuwa as the response moves toward recovery.
RRN’s flood response in Rasuwa is supported by German Doctors e.V. and Welthungerhilfe (WHH), with Aasaman Nepal as partner.
