RRN Distributes Nutrition Packets in Gosaikunda and Supports Thulo Syabru Health Post

Thulo Syabru, Rasuwa | 6 October 2026 (20 Asoj 2083)

Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) has distributed nutrition packets to 175 flood-affected households in Ward 5 of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality, Rasuwa. The support was provided by German Doctors e.V. as part of the Bhotekoshi Flood Relief Package. In Thulo Syabru 147 households received a packet, and in Brabal 28.

Each packet contained super flour (lito), corn flakes, 2 kg of salt, 2 kg of beaten rice and 3 litres of cooking oil. The packets are meant to help families meet their basic food needs while they recover from the flood. Lito, a nutrient-rich flour mix, also gives families a ready source of porridge for young children.

Support for Thulo Syabru Health Post

Under the same project, RRN handed over essential medicines, basic equipment and supplies to the Health Post at Thulo Syabru. They were received by Health Post In-charge Rajendra Aryal and Community Medical Assistant (CMA) Bhim Tamang.

Health services in Rasuwa have been under heavy pressure since the flood. When RRN’s first field mission visited the district between 4 and 8 September, many local health posts were not functioning, and the hospital in Dhunche was carrying most of the district’s caseload. With better-stocked shelves and equipment, the Thulo Syabru Health Post can treat more patients in the village itself, and fewer people will need to travel to Dhunche for basic care.

Reaching settlements the response had missed

Thulo Syabru and Brabal were among the road-accessible settlements that RRN’s first field mission found to be underserved. Relief had been reaching Dhunche in significant quantity while these nearby villages received far less. RRN returned to both settlements on 21 September, when, with support from Welthungerhilfe (WHH), it distributed kitchen sets to 143 households in Thulo Syabru and 28 in Brabal. This round of nutrition support builds on that earlier work.

Part of a wider relief package

The distribution is part of a relief package worth over EUR 15,000, funded by German Doctors e.V. On 3 October, RRN handed over medical equipment and medicines to Rasuwa Hospital in Dhunche under the same package. The package covers essential medicines and equipment for two health posts, and nutrition and dignity packets for 350 flood-affected households in Gosaikunda and Amachhodingmo rural municipalities. This distribution reaches half of those households, and distributions will continue in the coming days.

RRN’s flood response in Rasuwa is supported by German Doctors e.V. and Welthungerhilfe (WHH), with Aasaman Nepal as partner.
