Project Summary:
RRN is implementing the Locally-Led Nature Conservation Project (LNCP) as a small-scale pilot initiative in the buffer zone of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. The project promotes community-led biodiversity conservation by addressing forest fires, human-wildlife conflict, and unsustainable resource use, while supporting NTFP and agroforestry-based livelihoods. Supported by the Keidanren Nature Conservation Fund (KNCF), the project directly benefits over 3,000 people.
Approach:
- Participatory and Inclusive Engagement
- Integrated Conservation and Livelihoods
- Capacity Building and Awareness
- Data-Driven Decision-Making
- Pilot and Scalable Solutions
Expected Results:
- Strengthened local capacity and collaboration for biodiversity conservation through training, awareness, and inclusive participation.
- Reduced human-wildlife conflict and forest fire risks through preventive infrastructure and community-based response teams.
- Enhanced sustainable livelihoods through promotion of agroforestry, NTFPs, and small-scale enterprises.
- Improved data-driven planning using GIS, ecosystem assessments, and academic research support.
