Project Summary:
Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) is implementing the Scaling-Up Locally Led Nature Conservation Project (LNCP) in five selected Buffer Zone Community Forests of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Building upon the achievements of the pilot LNCP, the project strengthens biodiversity conservation, ecosystem resilience, and sustainable livelihoods through community-led conservation approaches.

 Expected Results: 

  • Strengthened governance and institutional capacity of Buffer Zone Community Forests and conservation stakeholders. 
  • Improved biodiversity conservation and ecosystem resilience through sustainable forest management, habitat restoration, and forest fire risk reduction. 
  • Enhanced community participation, environmental awareness, and youth leadership through Eco-Clubs, citizen science, and digital outreach initiatives. 
  • Increased livelihood opportunities through conservation-friendly enterprises, agroforestry promotion, and community-based income-generating activities. 
  • Improved research, documentation, and application of innovative technologies for evidence-based conservation planning and decision-making. 

Target Group and Beneficiaries:
Buffer Zone Community Forest User Groups (BZCFUGs), Women, Dalit, Indigenous and marginalized households, Youth and schoolchildren, Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park staff, Nepal Army personnel, Buffer Zone Management Council members, Local government representatives, Researchers and students.
